I almost titled this "Fixing Bob" - but that has unfortunate connotations so I reverted to "Repairing".
A couple of weeks ago Bob was injured during his favorite past time. He had been jumping around and flying through the air with the greatest of ease - he's very agile like that - when Case suddenly spotted a tear on Bob's back. Bob is Case's favorite stuffed animal. Since he was about a year old, Bob has gone everywhere with Case. They shared a crib, watched TV together, went to the grocery with Mom, and even went to the doctor together. Once Mommy saw how important Bob was to Case, she did the only responsible thing a Mommy could do and asked Mommom to buy a couple more as back-up. You know the rule - one for the hand, one for the wash, and one as an ace in the hole. I know that's got to be a rule somewhere. Anyway, once Case saw the tear in Bob's back, Mommy couldn't wash Bob or let another Bob out to play. Case said Bob had a "boo-boo". Oh, no! Now what do we do?
Why, we call Mommom of course! Case was relieved to hear that Mommom would come and repair Bob as soon as possible. When I got there, he was so excited he forgot where he'd left Bob and Mommy had to help. He was in the bathroom - right where he'd been left before going to preschool that day. Whew!
It didn't take very long to sew up the 1/2 inch tear and when I gave Bob to Case, he carefully looked where the tear had been. He couldn't find it and hugged Bob tight. Then he looked at Bob's face, turned Bob's face toward Mommy and me and said, "Bob's happy! See?" I'm not sure about Bob but I'm certain that Case was a very happy little boy. Bob was doing flips and flying within minutes.

A few month's ago Elizabeth had gotten Bob (2) out to play and had forgotten to put Bob (1) in the washer. A little later Case came running through the house...."Mom, look! (holding up both Bobs) Bob has a friend!" He was so excited about Bob having a friend that Mommy let him play with both. When he took his nap, she took Bob (1) and put him in the washer. When Case woke, he looked and looked for Bob's friend. Finally he asked Mommy where Bob's friend could be. Mommy wisely said, "Bob's friend's mother called and said it was time for Bob's friend to come home and take a nap." Case was sad but didn't fuss - after all, you always obey your Mommy!
