Sam....

Sam has had a busy couple of days. Since I've been gone and Marie spent most of the days at the hospital with Mama, he has been on his own quite a bit. Mama worried that he might run away but I really didn't. He's happy here and knows he's loved, wanted, and FED! I'm not sure, but I think he stayed here alone on Monday night. Apparently he did okay. He was certainly glad to see us. Rachel was here when we got home and said he didn't act that happy to see her and Catherine. He was happy to sleep upstairs again last night. You could here the "bag of bones" every time he changed positions in the hallway. Finally he settled down in my room and slept the entire night.
We walked out to the mailbox to get the paper and mail some letters. He was happy to have someone outside with him and ran and played back and forth over the yard. He ran his route a number of times today but has also slept more than usual. He's followed me from room to room all the time he was inside today. Right now he's behind me "sighing". He wants the house to settle down so he can go to sleep. However, if Mama decides to stay up and watch TV he will stay up with her until she goes to bed and then come sleep in my room.
He enjoyed all the activity this weekend. Having kids and other dogs to play with was good for him. He and Mattie get along really and Sidney fit right in and seemed to have a good time too. I can't believe Sidney let Avery ride her like a horse. What a cute scene! I think Cy would have happily taken Sam home with him. He fell in love with him just the way I did! I need Sam here. He makes the hard days doable.
