John has gone home and taken Mattie with him. It was so good to see them and have them here. John got a lot of work done and got a LOT of sun. Mattie was totally overwhelmed. She must be getting old because she gets tired so easily and so soon. Thankfully this time she just chilled out instead of panicking. She wanted to spend most of her time inside and who can resist that cute little face when she looks so sad and hopeful? Well, Mama for one. I'll admit....I'm a sucker too.
Sam was a little disappointed not to have as much play time. He is still very much a puppy. There were times he would not take no for an answer and would roll over Mattie while they were running and make them both tumble on the ground. He actually prances when he runs. He looks like a race horse when he does it and it is so cute. He has a very regal look when he sits out by the garage and surveys his domain.
We spend most of the day outside yesterday. John mowed and trimmed. I weeded the flower bed out near the garden. Jeremiah took pity on me and took the weed whacker to the center where there was nothing I wanted to keep. He cut it right down to the dirt. I still pulled a LOT of weeds. My hand is my proof....it is swollen and hurts to move it. The pulling action really upset the arthritis in my hand and the inflammation doesn't seem to want to go down just yet. I've washed dishes in hot water and used an ice pack. The rest will just have to have a little time to get better.
John and Mattie left after lunch (the same one Mama tried to get together at 10 am). She'd been up since 3 am, so she was obviously hungry. We got her to eat a snack and wait until noon. Her schedule has been off so much but she doesn't need to get her meals messed up as well.
When they left, Sam was nowhere to be found. After they were gone I heard this pitiful high pitched yipping. It was Sam.....he'd gotten locked in the barn....probably when John took the Roundup to put it away. John probably didn't even know he went in behind him.
He was thrilled to get out. He must have been calling for a while before I heard him because he ran to the water bucket and drank about a fourth of it right away. He's been sleeping since then.
Mama has slept almost the entire time since John left. She got up once when the phone rang but it was MS for me so she went back and is still asleep.
Marie is in the hospital. Her mother took her to the doctor on Friday and after seeing her decided to put her in and run some tests. So far all they've heard is that her thyroid is way too high. She called last night and told me she had a petite-mal seizure in the office. I'm sorry she had one, but glad the doctor got to see it. John David is there and plans to not go back to work until they find out what is wrong with her. She acts like she's having TIA's and can be fine one day and look really good...then the next day look thirty years older and be slurring her words and using the wrong word for what she's trying to say. I hope they can figure it out.
I've talked to MS about the budget and told her what there will be to spend while I'm gone. She will have $100 for groceries, Mama will have $100, and there will be money for the house cleaner. That's it. I'm taking the checkbooks and I'm not leaving any thing extra. If they get into a real bind Mama could use her credit card. I plan to be back down here by the first of May. If I can't make it, I'll mail a check to her. At least those are my plans for now. MS told me she still had $50 from the grocery money Mama gave her. She plans to use part of it to get her hair cut. Good plan!
