Although it almost breaks my heart, I agreed to let Sam move on to a new home. While we were in Hilton Head, Sam went on a visit (run) and ended up at the Lucas'. They knew where we lived so they brought Sam home and told Mary Sue that they had fallen love with him. If we ever needed a new home for him they would like to have him. They have a young boy, Isaiah, who thinks Sam is wonderful even though he does still smell a little like a skunk on the top of his head.
Mary Sue told them about how he wouldn't stay home but that he always came home unless someone held on to him and called for us to come and get him. She told him about how he went to live with the Marshall's and why that didn't work out. She told them about how he tried to get into your lap when he wants to go out. They still wanted him.
She called me while we were on our way home from Hilton Head and I agreed. I will miss him. He's the only dog I've ever picked out for myself and really connected to. It was hard to agree to let him go but I know it's for the best. The Lucas' have a large fenced yard and fenced hay fields for him to run in. He has a little boy to grow up with, and most important...Mama won't be worried about him all the time.
I don't think I'll ever want another dog. Mattie is John's dog (she likes me too) and that's fine with me. I just don't want another one!
Mom, this breaks my heart! I love that he came to visit you the other day though, and hopefully you will still be able to see him from time to time!
