Just so I don't forget, Elizabeth and Matt bought an English Lab. He is brown and they have named him Gunnar. Case looks so excited in the pictures they took.
Elizabeth is pregnant and not feeling too well right now.

Mama told me today that she had never told a soul but that she thought having too much company was what made her lose baby Joseph. He would have been a little younger (about a year) than me. She said she wasn't feeling well and really didn't feel up to company but didn't want to turn down her parents, Daddy's parents, and Ruth. She got up, cleaned house, and cooked to be ready for them. She said her stomach began to cramp and it went from bad to worse. She wanted me to make sure Elizabeth doesn't do too much. She even asked me if I needed to go home and take care of her. She said we could get someone else to stay here with her.
It was a kind thought. However, I'd always been told that the baby had stopped moving about three days before he was delivered. Now I don't know what to think. Secrets that are kept that long make for a lot of confusion.
.........
Other memories were of coming to town in the wagon. It took about half the day to travel from Sadler to Leitchfield. She said Grandad and Grandma had lots of friends in Leitchfield. Apparently they had all lived at South Union at one time and a lot of their friends went on to owning stores, the hotel, banks, etc. She said Grandma loved to come in an visit with her friends and that they were always warmly welcomed when they came.
........
She said she could remember coming into town with Grandad to get feed for the cattle. Grandad was told to buy bags that had a certain color or pattern and to get enough of each color or pattern to make a dress, a shirt, etc. Feed sack fabric was free and other fabric was costly back then.
She said she can remember getting home after dark and the stars coming out. She said it was always fun to come to town with her Dad.
........
I can't remember if I've written this one but I don't want to leave it out....
One Christmas they were so short of money and goods that she didn't get a Christmas present. She acted like she understood and that it didn't matter. She said she went to her room and cried because she felt so left out. Surely Grandma could have made her a little something. I don't know if they just forgot because they knew they couldn't afford to buy gifts or what happened but she's never forgotten how hurt she felt that year.
